KNEC Guidelines on How to Access KCSE Examination Results: Step-By-Step Guide.
Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released official instructions on how the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results can be accessed, and point of contact in relation to results.
The Council states that candidates and authorized users can only get the examination results via the official KNEC online platforms.
How to Access KCSE Examination Results Online
KNEC has outlined four steps to be taken (when accessing the results of examination of 2025 KCSE):
They must go to the KNEC results portal at the official KNEC webpage at https://results.knec.ac.ke/ or visit the Kenya National Examinations Council webpage and choose the option KCSE RESULTS.
The interface will also need that the candidate provide the Index Number of the candidate and at least one registered name at the time of examination registration when accessing the results interface.
The privacy and access notice on the platform must be accepted by the user before moving on.
After filling in the necessary information and accepting the notice, the candidates will then be able to search and see the examination results.

The Council has indicated that requests on all the results- related queries should be made within the next 30 days following the official release of the results through the respective Heads of Institutions.
KNEC has also observed that any request made beyond the lapsing of the 30 day period will receive a charge.

The Council has made it clear that any communication relating to examination results should be done using the official channels that are in place so as to make it accurate and accountable.
Understanding KCSE Grades and Their Meanings
Per-Subject Grading: Marks and Assessment Point.
The performance of every subject is given a letter grade and points. Although both the exact mark boundaries may shift marginally each year as a result of standardization, the following table shows the standard KCSE points-to-grade scale in 2025, and approximate ranges of percentages.
A: 12 points
A-: 11 points
B+: 10 points
B: 9 points
B-: 8 points
C+: 7 points
C: 6 points
C-: 5 points
D+: 4 points
D: 3 points
D-: 2 points
E: 1 point
The scale is applicable to all subjects, such as compulsory subjects such as Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, and optional subjects such as Biology, Physics, History, or Computer Studies.
The standardization is aimed at creating fairness taking into consideration the difference in exam difficulty.
