KNEC CP2 Portal: Registration, Application, Deployment Letters, and Account Access Guidelines.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) uses its Contracted Professionals System (CP2) to manage information and applications from professionals engaged to support examination administration. Registered users can update their profiles, apply for advertised vacancies and, if selected, access deployment information through the portal.
The portal is for contracted examination professionals—not students registering for school examinations. KNEC’s online system currently provides CP2 account access at cp2.knec.ac.ke.cp2.knec
What the CP2 portal is used for
The Contracted Professionals System (CP2) portal is an online platform initiated by the Kenya National Examinations Council to record, verify, and maintain information on all people contracted to carry out national examinations.
The portal integrates information on the recruitment, deployment, and engagement of officers in conducting national examinations across various cadres.
KNEC says this online platform is used to manage contracted professionals involved in setting, supervising, invigilating, administering, and fully managing national exams.
The online platform brings together information from different agencies and service providers to aid in verification, coordination, and accountability in administering exams.
Once registered and accepted, contracted professionals can apply for available examination work when advertised and view official deployment letters issued by the Council via the portal.

Types of Contracted Professionals
The CP2 portal is intended for contracted and verified professionals contracted by KNEC, including but not limited to:
i.) Teachers working as supervisors, invigilators, or assessors
ii.) Examiners taking part in setting and marking examinations
iii.) Drivers involved in exam logistics and distribution
iv.) Security staff deployed in examination centres and storage sites
v.) The portal records and holds updated information for all people contracted in such roles.
Eligibility and Approval Requirements
Use of the CP2 portal is subject to approval by the Kenya National Examinations Council. Eligibility for access is based on professional affiliations. The requirements are thus institutionally verified.
KNEC has indicated that:
Teachers wishing to participate in service recruitment as contracted teachers must be fully registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and practising.
The driver must have a valid operating license from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in order to be accredited.
The National Police Service contracts the security officers in accordance with interagency agreements.
Only applicants who meet the required criteria and are approved by the Council can access a service on the CP2 portal.
Online Registration Procedure
The Kenya National Examinations Council has laid down steps for first-time registration on CP2. Registration takes place for all people wishing to work as contracted professionals in matters concerning national examinations.
The steps involved in registering include:
i. Access the KNEC CP2 Website to create an Account
ii. On the login page, click on «Create Account», which is labelled below where you insert your login information.
iii. Enter a correct mobile number on the registration page and verify it to submit a request by clicking ‘Create Account.’
iv. An automatic Short Message Service notification is sent to the given mobile phone number with login information, including the assigned username and password, along with a URL to access the system.
v. On receipt of the credentials, you need to verify delivery using the same cell phone number used in creating an account.
vi. Download the User Manual available on the portal before moving on, which comprehensively portrays how to go through and make use of all available services in the system.
KNEC has stated that all future application processes for contracts related to examinations, changes in personal information, access to letter deployment, among other administrative matters, will be undertaken solely on the CP2 portal.
Portal Access for Existing Users
As stated in the guidelines provided by the Kenya National Examinations Council, those already using the CP2 portal have to log in using their usernames and passwords.
They access the page by visiting the official KNEC CP2 homepage and entering the provided login information.
Resetting a forgotten password
KNEC has provided two official ways to recover passwords if users cannot access their accounts.
One way is to send a short message service with the word Password to short code 22262.
The Council explained that an automatic response is sent to a registered phone number with directions on how to access an account.
Otherwise, users can attempt a password reset via the CP2 portal by clicking on Forgot password available in the login area.
The procedure requires a username registered by the user to complete the password reset process.
Updating your CP2 profile
After logging in, open the profile area and review the available sections, such as personal information, qualifications, and work experience. Use the relevant edit or add option to make corrections or enter new information, then save the changes.
Accurate details matter because KNEC uses the system to manage contracted professionals and examination duties. Check names, contact details, qualifications and work information before submitting an application.
Applying for an advertised vacancy
The Kenya National Examinations Council has confirmed that it conducts recruitment for exam-related jobs online through the CP2 portal only. Jobs are classified by exam type, activity type, post name, place of service, county, and sub-county.
Applicants must log in using their CP2 accounts and follow the application process by selecting their options from the dropdown boxes available in the system. The selection boxes in which they have to make entries based on requirements are given below:
Exam: Select the exam type, which can be Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Activity: Selection of the assigned activity, including supervision or invigilation.
Duty Station: Select the activity location, such as examination sites or distribution centres.
Position: Select a designation such as centre manager, invigilator, or clerk.
County: Selection of the county where the activity will be performed.
Sub-county: Selection of the relevant sub-county based on the chosen county.
Search Button: Click the search button to create relevant positions based on the criteria you selected.
Withdrawing an application
If you submitted an application with an incorrect choice, check your account’s application section for a withdrawal option. KNEC applications can be withdrawn, and the user can then apply again.
Follow the instructions in your account and confirm the withdrawal is complete before submitting another application.
Viewing a deployment letter
If you are selected and deployed, sign in to CP2 and check the dashboard or deployment area for your assignment information. The portal’s available options and page layout may change, so follow the instructions shown in your account.
Deployment letters indicate assigned workstations for each invigilator and supervisor. Viewing of deployment letters is accessible online via CP2 portals in this manner:
i. Log in to the KNEC CP2 portal.
ii. Click on the Dashboard tab.
iii. To see which centre and position you have been assigned, click on the Deployment tab.
iii. In the Deployment area, click on the table and go to Download in the Actions column.
KNEC urges applicants to submit a declaration form after a successful application to simplify payment processing. Successful applicants will receive notifications through SMS, the message dashboard, and in some cases, phone calls.
They are supposed to print a deployment letter and submit it, among other documents, to the named exam centres.
Before downloading or printing a letter, confirm that the examination, position and assigned centre or duty station are correct. A deployment letter applies to the assignment shown on it; having a CP2 account or submitting an application does not mean a letter has been issued.

Important account and application reminders
- Use the official CP2 portal and check KNEC notices for current vacancies and role requirements.
- Keep your profile details accurate and your login information private.
- Apply only for positions for which you meet the stated requirements.
- Review the examination, role and location before submitting an application.
- Treat an application confirmation as confirmation of submission, not proof of appointment.
- Do not share your password or pay an unofficial intermediary to obtain a CP2 account or deployment.
Conclusion
The KNEC CP2 portal serves as a major administrative platform for handling applications, registrations, and deployment of exam staff. Following these steps will enable institutions to follow all necessary requirements and gain effective deployment for conducting national examinations.
