Teachers Updates is a connection platform. We help parents, learners and teachers find and connect with one another. We do not provide teaching services, host lessons, collect or hold payments, or employ the teachers listed here. Parents, guardians and teachers are responsible for independently verifying each other and agreeing on lessons, fees, schedules and other arrangements.
Before you contact a teacher
- Read the whole profile. Notice what is stated by the teacher and what, if anything, our team checked.
- A profile on Teachers Updates is not proof of identity, TSC registration, employment or qualifications. Teachers Updates does not guarantee the identity, qualifications, conduct, availability or suitability of any teacher, unless a specific check is shown as having been done by Teachers Updates.
- Keep your first conversations on the phone or by message. Share only what you need to.
Checking identity and TSC registration
- Ask the teacher for their full name and their TSC number if they are TSC registered.
- TSC provides an official online service for checking registration status. A registration status should not be read as proof that a teacher is currently employed by TSC.
- You can use the official TSC online services at TSC Online and choose Registration Status. The teacher may need to show you their own confirmation, because the check can need details only they hold.
- Do not collect, photograph or store a teacher’s ID number, and do not give out yours. Ask to see identification and the registration confirmation in person at the first meeting, with a parent or guardian present.
- Teachers Updates only says it checked something when the profile shows a check by Teachers Updates with a date.
Home tuition
- A parent or guardian should be present when a young learner meets a teacher for the first time.
- Verify the teacher before inviting them to your home, and tell another adult when the lesson is.
- Agree on lesson times, place and expectations beforehand, and keep lessons in a shared part of the home where possible.
- Avoid giving unnecessary personal information about your family.
Online tutoring
- Agree with the teacher which app or platform you will use. Teachers Updates does not host or monitor lessons.
- Supervise lessons and messages involving younger learners, and avoid sharing unnecessary personal information.
Payment safety
- Teachers Updates does not collect or hold payment for tutoring, homeschooling or any teaching service. Never send money to anyone claiming to represent Teachers Updates in exchange for a teacher, lesson, booking or placement. Any payment is arranged directly between the parent or guardian and the teacher, after you have independently verified the teacher and agreed on the service.
- Do not make large advance payments. Never share passwords, PINs or financial details.
- If anyone asks you to pay Teachers Updates for a teacher or lesson, it is a scam. Report it to us.
Protecting children
- Learners should not use this site to contact adults directly. Requests are made by parents and guardians who are adults.
- Do not post a child’s name, photo, school or address in requests or messages.
- Teachers should keep all contact with learners appropriate and involve the parent or guardian.
Reporting a profile or a concern
- Use the Report this profile button on any teacher’s page (you need to be signed in).
- Our team reviews reports and may ask for more information. Possible outcomes include a warning, a restriction, suspension or removal.
- If a child or anyone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services or the police first. Teachers Updates is not an emergency service.
- You can also reach us through the contact page.
