IB Year 3 Homeroom Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Aga Khan Academy Mombasa is seeking a dedicated IB Year 3 Homeroom Teacher to join its primary faculty on a temporary basis as a maternity cover starting November 2026.

In this role, you will guide primary learners through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) framework, cultivating a vibrant, inquiry-based classroom environment where young minds are encouraged to think critically and express themselves with confidence.

As an integral member of the primary teaching team, you will collaborate with fellow educators to plan unit-driven lessons aligned with PYP standards, assess student progress, and maintain clear communication with parents.

• Deliver inquiry-based instruction aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum framework for Year 3 learners.
• Plan, prepare, and execute collaborative unit plans that encourage critical thinking, active participation, and holistic development.
• Assess, record, and report on individual student progress, adapting learning strategies to support diverse learning styles.
• Maintain an inclusive, structured, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to active learning and growth.
• Build positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through consistent communication.
• Participate actively in primary department meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and school-wide events during the contract period.

• Strong familiarity with primary education pedagogy and student-centered teaching methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons suited to young primary learners.
• Excellent interpersonal, classroom management, and organizational skills.
• Capacity to adapt quickly to established school routines and curriculum expectations.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Primary Education, or a relevant discipline.
• Recognized teaching accreditation or certification.

Relevant primary school teaching experience, preferably within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) or an international curriculum setting.
