The Kenya University Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) facilitated the placement process through its online portal, which allowed students to apply and make changes to previous selections.

Prof. Magoha has revealed that 124,258 applicants – 55,553 men and 68,705 women – were assigned to TVET institutions, with 1,528 assigned to pursue diplomas in Primary Teacher Education and Early Childhood Teacher Education.

“KUCCPS placed 293 (129 male, 164 female) to three colleges offering Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, namely: Kagumo, Kibabii and Lugari TTCs. These students will be trained to deliver the CBC curriculum,“ added Magoha.

Prof. George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has revealed that 90% of students who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) in 2021 were successfully placed in universities.

Magoha stated during the official release of the 2022/2023 universities and colleges student placement results in Nairobi on Saturday that 85% of the aforementioned students were placed in universities to pursue various degree courses, while 5% enrolled in TVET institutions.

"Of the 144,466 Kenyan citizen candidates who qualified for degree programmes, 123,963 (85pc) were placed to universities (67,237 male and 56,726 female). 5,278 have been placed to TVET institutions by choice,” said Magoha in his address.

“I have also noted that 16,310 candidates who qualified for degree programmes in the 2021 KCSE examination did not submit applications and may have opted to pursue other opportunities including opting to study abroad.”

There were 600,000 placement slots available across universities, TVET institutions, and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).
