TSC Reveals 15,522 Teachers Set For 2023 Promotions.
Dr. Nancy Macharia reveals that TSC will promote 15,522 teachers.
The Teachers Service Commission, or TSC, plans to promote more than 15,500 teachers at the start of 2023.
Speaking to Members of Parliament, TSC Director Nancy Macharia indicated that the Advert is complete and will be released soon national examinations conclude.
“Immediately after exams come to an end, we shall advertise and start the process of promoting the teachers to different grades,” said Macharia.
According to TSC, the government will spend Sh1.4 billion on these campaigns.
Macharia stated this before the Education Committee of the Parliament.
The committee head, Julius Melly, inquired about the expense of promoting instructors by TSC. Members questioned why teachers remained in the same job category for so long.
“There is an outcry that promotion is based on nepotism and other corruption matters. And this seems to be affecting most teachers who have been serving in the same position”* Hon Melly wondered .
The head of the TSC reported that the Commission’s budget was insufficient to support the promotion.
Macharia encouraged the Members of Parliament to allocate more funding from the national budget so that the Commission could hire and promote more teachers.
Currently, the Commission is hiring more than 30,000 teachers in an effort to fill staffing vacancies.
