5 Kijabe Boys School Students Charged With Arson

On Tuesday, five students from Kijabe Boys High School in Lari constituency, Kiambu county, were charged with arson.

However, they were practically arraigned before Jared Magori, a senior principal magistrate in Limuru, where they denied the charges.

Magori ordered their release on Sh200,000 bond, Sh200,000 surety bond, or Sh100,000 cash bond.

They were accused of setting fire to the school dormitory during lunch on August 30, destroying the school and student property.

The judge ordered that the case be mentioned on September 20 and set a hearing date for January 9, 2023.

The students were returned to the Lari police station because no one had posted bail.

They were being detained at the station while DCI agents conducted investigations.

In addition, parents have been asked to advise their children to behave well in schools and other institutions to prevent them from incurring hefty fines.

A parent stated that their children’s misbehavior had exasperated most parents at school, which has resulted in expulsion for damaging classrooms, dormitories, and other structures.

“We must take up the role of instilling discipline in our children.”

Kamau has urged parents to get their act together and instill discipline in their children.
