Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has asked President William Ruto, not to mess with the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

Sunday, January 15, during a thanksgiving service hosted by the Kiambu University and College Students Association (KUCSA) Leadership at City of Refuge Church, Kamenu Ward, Thika, Kiambu County, he advised the head of state to keep off from HELB.

He stated that the education system has the biggest challenge to the country.

“There is a problem in the education sector truth be told and if I was president Ruto and am not here to advise him, he would call for proper public participation and engagement but I would advise him, please stay away from HELB,” he announced.

He went on to describe how he profited during his time in school from government loans, saying that it is of tremendous assistance to students. He went on to describe how he profited during his time in school from government loans, saying that it is of tremendous assistance to students.“The real game is in HELB, that’s where the students and the poor benefit from. During my time, I used to get Ksh6,000 and it is over 30 years now.

You are now getting Ksh7,000 out of the balance, think outside the box,” he stated.

Opiyo Wandayi, head of the Minority in the National Assembly, questioned Ruto’s plan to abolish HELB and replace it with a new body.

Ruto declared on January 5 that his administration would eliminate the HELB and devise a new formula for financing institutions.

He stated that the Higher Education Loan Board (HELB), the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), and the University Funding Board (UFB) would be amalgamated in order to increase efficacy and efficiency.

The problem with higher education is enormous. “The Auditor General has already stated that virtually all colleges are bankrupt.”

He also cautioned Kenyans against allowing cartels to run the government, noting that he was still dissatisfied with the general election held in August 2022.

“Do not trust the political leaders when they keep on repeating the that the truth shall set you free. There can never be peace without justice.

I have lived through three stolen elections therefore please pray for me to get out of prison. I am in prison. Let this country get out of prison too,” he stated.
