KCB Foundation Scholarship Application For 2022 High School Students.
The KCB Foundation is now accepting applications for its high school scholars program for the class of 2022.
This year, the Foundation has increased funding to Ksh 252 million to support 1,000 bright underprivileged students from across the country, up from 240 students last year.
The increased number of recipients is in line with the KCB Foundation’s expansion of the entire scholars’ program, which now includes an apprenticeship component as well as university and tertiary education scholarships.
The program intends to actively and intentionally assist marginalized, underserved, minorities, and vulnerable students from all 47 counties in gaining access to education.
Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Director, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and Citizenship stated on the program that the increase in capacity was informed by the long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on various households, both economically and socially.
The pandemic’s negative impact has put a financial strain on households and widened the poverty gap, limiting access to education for many young Kenyans, according to Rosalind.
“As such, we increased the scholarship capacity to ensure that more of these bright students have a chance to continue their education and change their future.
“The revamp also means we be able to support their transition from high school to institutions of higher learning, both university and TVETs” she said.
The application window is open until Monday, April 11, 2022.
The KCB Foundation scholarship covers all four years of tuition, personal effects, learning materials, school uniforms, transportation to and from school, termly school-based mentorship sessions with a KCB staff member, and an annual group mentorship and networking with fellow scholars.
The 2022 class will be the scholar’s fifteenth cohort, with 1,320 students currently enrolled, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 3,535 since the program’s inception in 2007.
Finally, the scholars’ program aims to increase the rate of transition from primary to secondary schools and contribute to the achievement of all 17 SDGs.
