TSC Salary Structure for Teachers in Kenya; Breakdown for Grades.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced a newly negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covering the period from 2025 to 2029, resulting in salary increments for educators.

The TSC revealed that the agreement will be implemented in four phases, with the first phase commencing on July 1, 2025.

TSC stated that the total net cost of the four-year CBA is KSh 33,753,372,108. The commission noted that the first phase will cost KSh 8.4 billion in pay and benefits, of which over KSh 1.2 billion is allocated for the employer’s contribution to the teachers’ pension scheme and other mandatory statutory deductions.

TSC added that the award provides pay increases of up to 29.5 percent across staff cadres and is intended to bridge the wage gap between the highest and lowest paid teachers.

The revised basic salary structure affects all teaching job groups from B5 to D5. The new salary scales are detailed in the following table:

The commission confirmed that other allowances remain unchanged. The phased implementation applies to classroom teachers, senior teachers, deputy headteachers, headteachers, principals, and education administrators.
