Machogu: When I Disciplined Kimani Ichungwa
Education Cabinet Secretary Mr. Ezekiel Machogu shared an amusing anecdote during a public event on May 19, 2023, attended by President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Machogu recounted a disciplinary incident involving Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa during their school years, which he humorously claimed has shaped Ichungwa into the respected leader he is today.
The event took place at Limuru Girls’ School in Kiambu County, where Ichungwa’s father is known to have a close association with Machogu.
The Formative Action
Machogu reminisced about his disciplinary actions towards Ichungwa, stating that he had caned him when Ichungwa was a young student.
“Kimani Ichungwa knows, I disciplined him with a rod when he was a young boy and a student of mine.,” Machogu said.
He playfully attributed Ichungwa’s current position to the influence of his father, Ng’ungi, who was a good friend of Machogu and encouraged him to discipline Ichungwa.
Shared History
During a vetting session for his current position six months ago, Machogu received an unexpected tribute from Kimani Ichungwa, who was part of the vetting committee.
Ichungwa disclosed that he had known Machogu since his primary school days when Machogu served as a young District Officer in Kikuyu.
Reflecting on their shared history, Ichungwa acknowledged the role Machogu played in his early life, emphasizing that Machogu was his District Officer when he was in class three.
Congratulating Limuru Girls’ School
While attending the event at Limuru Girls’ School, Machogu took the opportunity to commend the school for its academic and extracurricular achievements.
He specifically highlighted the accomplishments of the girls who had achieved university entry grades in 2022.
This recognition showcased the school’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering academic excellence.
