The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Mr. Collins Oyuu has cited inflation as a major factor affecting teachers.
Oyuu asked the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to improve the packages/remunerations given to center managers, invigilators, supervisors, and markers throughout the exercise.
The SG thanked principals and headteachers for the excellent work they are doing in their respective schools.
He also thanked them for their good management of the recently concluded KSCE examinations and the marking that was completed today from various centers across the country.
Oyuu reminded delegates and teachers across the country that the year 2022 will see three sets of examinations, namely the KCSE and KCPE of 2021 and 2022, as well as the first final primary school class of the CBC, and that they must maintain a positive attitude throughout all sessions.
The secretary-general expressed confidence that teachers across the country will make the right decision in electing the 5th president of the republic at the end of Hon Uhuru’s term of leadership on August 9, 2022, and urged teachers’ leaders to set the right example for Kenyan teachers and all other workers.
Oyuu spoke at a conference in Mombasa attended by 9,000 school principals. Following the outbreak of Covid-19 in March of that year, the conference had not been held since 2020.
