The Nobel prize laureate, Prof. Michael Kremer, has released research results on educational systems in Africa that obliged to find some of the largest academic achievements ever assessed by a major study in emerging markets.

Prof. Kremer and co-authors of the report, Guthrie Gray-Lobe, Anthony Keats, Isaac Mbiti, and Owen Ozier, discovered that Early Childhood Development through Grade eight students in NewGlobe gain nearly an additional year of learning (0.89) under the NewGlobe integrated methodology, learning in two years what their peers learn in nearly three years.

In Kenya, NewGlobe is known as Bridge International.

“The test score effects in this study are among the largest in the international education literature,” states the report.

Over the course of two school years, 10,000 students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds participated in the study, which used indicators such as access to electricity and whether homes had dirt or mud floors.
