Employers receive hundreds of applications for each job which gives them limited time to go through every CV completely as they search for the excellent candidate.
Therefore, the most eye-catching CV’s get into the shortlisted pile, while the rest are trashed. What defines which CV’s end up in the good pile, and which ones end up being trashed?

1. Sections
An organisation/company will rush over your name, email, qualifications and past working experience. These are the most crucial parts that should forever appear on the front page of your CV.
Make sure you quote the period of your prior job experience, your job description and add some information in form of achievements beneath all roles you have held before.
What should come out when the employer sees your CV should be your accomplishments in that position and how you assisted the department and the company accomplish its objectives.
2. Role Titles
Companies go beyond your past positions seeking your relevance to the current position they are looking to fill beside your professional growth.
Clearly state your previous titles.
3. Turnover
How long did you stay in your previous job? Separate short term/Part-time jobs from permanent jobs. Fact is, companies are very sceptical about hiring people who have had a history of job-hopping as it says a lot about your dedication.
4. Minor Details
Does your CV contain Typing errors, grammatical mistakes, and very wordy sentences? This is big a turn-off to employers. You need to go through your CV several times to remove minor mistakes.
