2022 KCSE Results Grade Breakdown Per Gender
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu stated that 1,146 candidates earned an A in the KCSE in 2022.
522,588 candidates (59.14%) received a grade of D+ or above, compared to 442,251 candidates (53.29%) in 2021. Only 30,822 individuals scored below an E.
2021 KCSE Grade Breakdown
Grade A
271 female candidates earned an A, while 875 male candidates earned the same grade.
Grade A-
1962 female students earned an A-, while 4445 male students earned the same grade.
Grade B+
On the KCSE 2022 exams, only 6104 female candidates earned a B+ grade. Likewise, 9578 male candidates earned a B+.
Grade B
13,520 female students received a B while 17,783 male students received the same grade.
Grade B-
21,474 female candidates earned a B-, while 27,245 male students achieved the same grade.
Grade C+
33,138 female candidates earned a C+, while 36,960 male candidates received the same grade.
Grade C
In the grade C category, female candidates outperformed their male rivals. 49,191 female candidates received a grade of C, while 45,963 male candidates received the same grade.
Grade C-
The number of female candidates who got C- stood at 62,599, while 56,469 boys also fell in that category.

Machogu stated at the release of the KCSE results that it was an improvement above the 2021 results.
Candidates can now access their results on the website of the Kenya National Examination Council.
Users should navigate to the KCSE tab, choose the year they took the national exams, and input their Index number.
Alternately, they can access the results through SMS networks, county education offices, or their local schools.
To access the results via the SMS platform, the CS instructed parents, guardians, and students to transmit their index number followed by the initials KCSE (capitalized) to the number 20076.
