KMTC Appoints Dr. Kelly Oluoch As The New CEO
Dr. Kelly Oluoch has been officially appointed as the Kenya Medical Training College’s (KMTC) new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Ambassador Zachary Muburi-Muita, chairperson of the KMTC board, made the announcement on Thursday, praising Dr. Oluoch for emerging as the best choice from a panel of more than 66 candidates.
Amb. Muita expressed confidence in Dr. Oluoch while challenging him to transform the college, which he claims is brimming with brilliant minds capable of propelling it to greater heights.
“The first and main task ahead of you is on promoting teaching and learning. I urge all of us to rethink managing student and staff ratios,” Amb. Muita said during a three-day Academic Council meeting at the college headquarters in Nairobi.
Dr. Oluoch, who previously served as acting president after his predecessor Prof. Michael Kiptoo’s term expired in November 2021, reaffirmed his commitment to working with his new team to ensure the college’s success.
“I take this appointment with great honor and humility. I thank the Almighty God for this chance. I thank the Board of Directors for putting trust in me,” he said.
“I know I have a huge task ahead of me. I look forward to working collaboratively with the board, management, staff and students to create an enabling environment that supports teaching and learning,” he added.
Dr. Oluoch has previously served as Deputy Director of Finance, Planning, and Administration; Principal of the Lake Victoria and Kisumu Campuses; Deputy Head of Pharmacy Department and Head of Pharmacy Department (Machakos Campus); and Deputy Principal and Head of Pharmacy Department.
Prior to joining the College, he worked as a Pharmacist in Charge at Marsabit District Hospital.
Dr. Oluoch holds a Doctorate in Business Administration, Strategic Management option from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology, Innovation, and Regulatory Pharmacy from Purdue University.
