Graduate Caught Doing Multi-Million Dollar Bhang Farming in 6-Bedroom Mansion

Police are looking for a university graduate suspected of running multi-million dollar marijuana growing business at a posh home in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county.

According to a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday, July 6, officers raided the home yesterday (July 5) following a tip from members of the public.

The homeowner used various advanced methods to grow cannabis in parts of his house, according to images and videos shared by the police.

The graduate had installed LED lights in some areas of the house to provide adequate lighting for the plants.

The marijuana plants from the house were estimated to cost around Ksh1 million by the police.

Officers searched the compound’s two buildings thoroughly and discovered 21 cannabis plants in the main bedroom, 68 in the sitting room, 14 in the dining room, 26 in an adjacent iron sheet walled house, and various personal documents “read the police report

Officers recovered personal documents during the raid, which are now being used to conduct additional investigations.

“All the plants were uprooted after having been documented by DCI Scenes of Crime personnel. The plants weighed 33.5 kg, with a street value of about Ksh1 million.

Police are now appealing for any information that can lead to the suspect’s arrest, urging the public to refrain from engaging in criminal activities.

Police warned Kenyans against growing and using marijuana, citing the fact that it is still illegal in the country. The DCI has observed an increase in the use of bhang in recent months.

The raid comes just days after DCI detectives apprehended teenagers who were smoking the illegal substance at a Migori joint, further warning the public against engaging in such vices after videos of a child smoking bhang surfaced on social media.


“As we continue to educate the public on the negative impact of abuse of illegal substances on one hand, and also as we scale up our surveillance and enforcement campaigns against drugs and illegal substances,” the police stated.
