TVET Students To Wear Uniforms – PS Muoria

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Principal Secretary, Esther Muoria, recently made a major announcement regarding the future of TVET education in Kenya.

The PS stated that plans are in place to introduce uniforms for all students currently enrolled or joining TVET institutions across the country.

The move is aimed at improving the standards of education in higher learning institutions and ensuring a level of uniformity among graduates.

The PS confirmed that discussions were underway with relevant stakeholders to determine the color and design of the standardized uniforms, which will be worn on specific days of the week.

Once approved, TVET students will join the ranks of other learners who wear uniforms as they pursue higher education.

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is a notable example of an institution where students wear uniforms.

Governor Benjamin Cheboi praised the government’s move to establish TVETs in every county, as most of the marketable jobs require technical skills and the sector needs to be supported to produce highly competitive graduates.

With over 700,000 candidates failing to secure the minimum university entry mark of C+ in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education (KCSE), Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu assured that all the candidates will be admitted to higher institutions of learning, including TVETs.

He directed the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) to move quickly and establish the number of places available in universities, colleges, and TVET institutions to start the placement exercise as soon as possible.

In conclusion, the introduction of uniforms in TVET institutions is a positive step towards improving education standards and promoting unity among graduates.

The government’s commitment to supporting the technical education sector is commendable and will go a long way in producing highly skilled graduates who will contribute to the development of the country.
