TSC Warns Teachers of Conmen in Recruitment Process.

The teaching Service Commission (TSC) has cautioned Kenyans to be wary of conmen moving around collecting money from potential employees and lying to them that they are in a position to help them secure employment.

“We would like to caution Kenyans to be wary of conmen moving around collecting money from potential employees lying to them they are in a position to help them secure employment, this process will be done in an open and transparent manner by TSC,” said Macharia.

Eve Obara, a member of parliament for Kabondo Kasipul, requested TSC to compile data on the shortages of teachers across the nation.

This will facilitate the recruitment process, as no one will oppose a region receiving more teachers if there is evidence to support this.

Dr. Obara stated that time was of the essence because their constituents were knocking on their doors seeking work, and that the government must come up with clear standards to guarantee that residents are included throughout the entire process.

Nabii Nabwera, a representative from Lugari, stated that the population of a given county cannot be wished away in the recruitment of teachers, as some have more sub-counties than others and it would be unfair to say that these positions will be distributed equally when some regions have a greater need.

“I come from Kakamega County which has one of the largest populations and constituencies with many schools for that matter, it would be grossly unfair to want it to have the same number of teachers as some counties with only two constituencies in the country,” said Nabwera.

Igembe North MP Julius Taitumu agreed with Nabwera, stating that the population of a certain county and the number of schools should be significant criteria in choosing the number of teachers they will receive, and he urged his colleagues to accept the plan for the sake of Kenyans.

As they represented the interests of all Members of Parliament, the Committee Chairman advised committee members that when they make recommendations, they are doing so on behalf of the entire nation and not just their individual districts or counties.
