TSC Transfers Principals of Top-Performing Gusii Schools

Several principals from schools in the Gusii region of Kenya who recorded impressive results in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination have been transferred to new stations.

The affected principals are from schools such as Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, St Paul’s Oginga DOK, St Paul’s Gekano, Moi Gesusu, Kereri Girls, Riambase Mixed, and Riokindo Boys.

These school heads have expressed their willingness to serve in their new schools and to help improve academic performance.

They attribute their previous success to the creation of conducive learning environments.

One such headmaster, Mr. Boniface Masese, who was transferred from Igonga DOK in Bonchari to Bishop Mugendi Nyakegogi High School in Bobasi Constituency, says that he is confident that he will give his best to ensure that there is an improvement in performance in national exams, despite the school being a pure boys’ boarding school.

At Iginga DOK, Mr. Masese led the school to post a mean score of 10.24 in the exam, with all 118 candidates qualifying to join the university.

Another headmaster, Mr. Chrispinus Owino, who was posted to Cardinal Otunga Mosocho in 2018, helped the school reclaim its glory after being missing from the list of top schools for a long time.

In the 2022 exam, the school posted an improved mean score of 10.26. However, Mr. Owino has now been transferred to St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School in Kakamega County.

Mr. Albert Ombiro, the head teacher of St Paul’s Gekano Boys, has been transferred to Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, while Mr. James Momanyi, the Chief Principal of Moi Gesusu High School in Masaba South, has taken over from Mr. Lucas Matiko, who has since been posted to Kodero Bara High School in Migori County. Ms.

Tabitha Mogonchi, who has been transferred from Riambase Mixed Secondary School, is the new principal at Kereri Girls Secondary.

In conclusion, while the transfers of these successful headmasters may be seen as normal by the TSC, it is important to consider the potential impact on the schools and the teachers’ families.

The school heads, however, remain optimistic and are looking forward to transforming their new schools and building on their previous success.
