TSC To Train 90,000 Teachers as it Enhances Medical Scheme

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Dr. Nancy Macaharia says the commission aims to train at least 90,000 teachers.

The teachers will be trained between January and April of 2023 in order to help them up-to-date on the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The teachers will be placed through a retooling program to ensure that they are appropriately prepared to teach our Junior Secondary School students.

TSC has already trained 2,376 master trainers in preparation for the retooling of all incoming secondary school teachers and others.

“All teachers recruited will be put on a retooling regime to ensure that they adequately attend to our Junior Secondary School learners…we target to train 90,000 teachers between now and April 2023: Nancy Macharia (CEO, TSC).”

Interviews for individuals who have been shortlisted are due to complete today, opening the way for successful teachers to be hired. TSC said the new hired teachers will begin work on January 30th, the same day that the Junior Secondary School students report to their respective schools

The Teachers Service Commission has enhanced teachers’ medical insurance plans.

TSC chief executive officer (CEO), Dr. Nancy machaira revealed the modifications during the release of the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

“I want to inform our teachers that we have enhanced their benefits under the medical insurance scheme to make it more attractive,” she announced.

According to the CEO, all teachers should familiarize themselves with the modifications so that they can utilize the program with their families to the fullest extent.

“I now wish all our teachers and learners a successful new academic calendar starting on Monday. I also wish the 2022 KCSE candidates a successful academic journey as they receive their results today. God bless you and thank you very much,” TSC boss concluded.
