TSC Promotes 1,963 teachers.
Following interviews conducted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) last month, some 1,963 teachers have been promoted.
The promoted teachers will fill positions ranging from Grade C2-TSC Scale 7 (Senior Teacher II) to Grade D5 TSC Scale 15. (Chief Principal).
According to TSC Chief Executive Nancy Macharia, approximately 1,040 teachers will be promoted under this category.
Another 923 teachers will be promoted to the positions of head and deputy head in arid and semi-arid regions (Asal).
According to Dr. Macharia, the promotion of teachers in Asal was a deliberate affirmative action to help them grow.
The parties agreed in the recently signed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with trade unions that all teachers holding administrative positions in A areas would be promoted.
The new CBA also phased out teacher service schemes, replacing them with the Career Progression Guidelines (CPGs.)
According to TSC communication, all promotions are based on Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.
The interviews were conducted between November 1 and November 12. The Standard obtained the information from a brief on teacher promotions.
At least 53 teachers have been chosen to take on the role of Chief Principal.
Another 40 will be promoted to Senior Principal, and 49 will be promoted to Principal.
For deputy principals I, 33 teachers were interviewed and will fill the positions.
Another 15 will be promoted to deputy principal II positions.
Sixteen teachers will be promoted to senior lecturer I, while 18 will be promoted to senior lecturer II.
TSC has also chosen 34 teachers to be promoted to curriculum support officer I, with nine being promoted to curriculum support officer II. 63 teachers will be promoted to senior headteacher positions.
According to the communication, 233 teachers will be appointed as deputy headteacher II.
Another 233 will be appointed to senior headteacher I positions, and a similar number will be appointed to senior teacher II positions.
In terms of Asal promotions, 19 will be promoted to principal positions, while 12 will be promoted to deputy principal II positions.
Only two people have been chosen to be senior master II and deputy principal III, while 46 others will be senior master III (job group C5)
165 teachers have been chosen to advance to senior master IV, with another 16 set to take positions under senior master II and deputy principal III.

Others include 263 teachers who will be promoted to senior teacher II and 122 others who will be promoted to senior teacher II.
