TSC Flags Fake List of Shortlisted Teachers For Higher Pay

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has flagged as fake a viral news that it has listed 186,744 teachers for higher salaries from July this 2022 as part of the implementation of the Second Phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

The fake news indicates states that those who will benefit are those in the lowest grades of the teaching service, Job Groups H (128,047 teachers), J (15,140 teachers), and K (43,557 teachers), whose pay package was spread over two years under negotiated salaries, whereas those in higher Job Groups will have their salaries cleared in a four-year cycle.

It further states that primary teachers in Grade B5 (previously Job Group ‘H’) who are currently paid Shs19,224 per month will be paid Shs21,756 starting in July adding that this cadre of teachers can earn up to Shs27,195 per month in basic compensation.

However on its official Twitter account, TSC asked teachers to always visit it’s website for accurate and authentic information or contact them through calls and email.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has debunked a widespread report claiming it had approved higher salaries for 186,744 teachers starting in July 2022 as part of the Second Phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

“For accurate and authentic information, visit our website http://tsc.go.ke , @TSC_KE on Twitter & TSC KENYA on Facebook. You can also call us on 0202892000 or send us an email via [email protected],” said the commission.
