On Monday morning, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia rode a boat to give tests, going the extra mile.

Macharia inaugurated KCSE test containers in Kilifi Town, then supervised examination activities in the area.

Photos released on the commission’s Twitter account depicted Macharia with police officers and other government officials.

She is also observed with her pants folded and strolling barefoot in the water.

Nancy Macharia saw the distribution of KCSE exams to Marafiki Secondary School.

The school is situated on the island of Kadaina, in the Kilifi North sub-county.

Last year, when the school’s principal came to pick up the tests at the Kilifi North DCC exam container, Macharia almost expelled him.

Macharia stated that the teacher was improperly attired for the official function she was supervising.

However, the teacher then revealed that this is because he must wade through seawater to reach his school.

Macharia stated that he will visit the school.

The CEO accessed the school by boat from the Uyombo landing place, which took approximately 30 minutes.

When the tide is low, as it was during her visit today, you must wade through the water to reach the boat boarding place.

Macharia exited the school by the Kwa Kea path, which kids and teachers utilize.

It takes around 45 minutes to traverse the mangrove forest on foot through the murky waters of the crossing channel.

On Monday, multiple officials participated in opening exam containers on the second day of KCSE examinations across the nation.

David Njengere, the CEO of Knec, was at Nairobi’s Kamukunji sub-county before proceeding to Maina Wanjigi Secondary School.

In addition to being in Kilifi county, KICD chairman Charles Ongondo was in the Malindi deputy county commissioners’ office.

CS Education Ezekiel Machogu was slated to open the test containers at the DCC office in Langata, however, he was unable to make it owing to prior obligations.

Early education and fundamental education PS Belio Kipsang was at the test container for the Westlands DCC.

Friday morning marked the official start of the KCSE theoretical examinations, with 884,263 applicants sitting for tests across the nation.

The students began the day with English Paper 1 and concluded it with Chemistry Paper 1.
