Teacher Accused Of Sexually Abusing 3 Pupils.
A teacher accused of sexually abusing three students has been arrested by police in Konoin, Bomet County.
The teacher at Mosoriot Academy in Koiwo was arrested, according to Konoin sub-county police commander Tom Achiya, after the school administration raised an alarm.
Achiya stated that the school’s administration reported the incident on Friday after a Standard Eight student was discovered to have been sexually molested. The student was taken to Kericho County’s Litein Mission Hospital, where it was discovered he had been sodomized.
“After the medical assessment, the boy was also interrogated by male teachers who had taken him to the hospital. The minor revealed that his class teacher has been molesting him. He said the teacher had also been molesting other pupils,” said Achiya.
He added: “After reports and upon confirmation that three pupils had actually been molested, detectives moved in and arrested the teacher who was picked from his home.”
According to the police commandant, investigations are underway, and the teacher will appear in court at any time to answer charges.
Achiya stated that the students, aged 11, 12, and 13, were taken to the hospital for treatment and counseling.
He also stated that the police have been sent to the school to question the administration as part of their investigations.
Officers from the Ministry of Education, according to Area Chief Emily Ngetich, have also been called in.
She added that police officers have been deployed to keep watch after irate parents and community members threatened to storm the school in protest.
“We are afraid the school may be attacked by irate members of the public,” Mrs Ngetich said adding; “With the members of the public becoming hostile over the incident, we are considering closing down the school for now."
