To strengthen early education, the Garissa government plans to hire more ECDE teachers and construct classrooms. County secretary Abdi Ali stated that a solid foundation is essential for the youth.
Abdi made the remarks while opening a public financial management seminar in Garissa on Wednesday. He stated that they want to start over now that ECDE is part of the new curriculum.
“That is why we want to employ the teachers on a permanent basis to boost their morale,” Abdi said.
According to the county secretary, teachers play an important role in the development of children by nurturing and moulding them for a better future.
Abdi also stated that youth should attend tertiary institutions because the country is in need of people with such skills.
“As a county, we have pumped in a substantial amount of funds to improve on the infrastructure as well equip these institutions,” he said.

Abdi, on the other hand, stated that over the last four years, the county has been consistent in hiring ECDE teachers and putting up structures in areas where they were lacking.
“The Garissa government remains committed in addressing the plight of teachers, stabilising early learning and setting a strong base for our children,” he said.
