Teacher Arrested Over KCSE Leakages After Toilet Raid.

Police in Kisii County detained a teacher supervising an examination center after he was accused of aiding two suspects in escaping from a toilet at Nyamonaria Secondary School in Kisii.

The police investigating the matter raided the restrooms, only to discover the two fleeing for cover. They intensified their hunt for two individuals inside the toilet who were reviewing a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education-KCSE exam paper.

According to police investigations, the two infiltrated the school in order to illegally aid a student in the centre prior to a mathematics examination.

During their search, the police discovered two smart phones, school attendance registers, exercise books, and a mathematical log book containing four-digit numbers.

At the time of publication, the instructor was in police detention until the completion of an investigation.

Director of Education for Kisii County, Pius Ong’oma, acknowledged the arrest of the centre manager and noted that an inquiry into alleged examination misconduct was ongoing.

In addition, the county director stated that the manager will be replaced as education officials endeavored to run the national examination with integrity.

The incident occurred during the second week of the main national examinations.

The Ministry of Education declared a slew of preventive measures at the outset to combat malpractice and irregularities, including cheating.

Among these was the prohibition of illegal phones in examination centers.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) also announced that all mid-morning examination papers would be secured in exam rooms to prevent their exposure prior to the exam.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu declared, “We will leave nothing to chance as far as the administration of national exams is concerned.”

In addition, the Ministry worked with the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Technology to avoid cheating via telecommunications applications.

Additionally, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations was entrusted with locating suspects selling papers on social media channels.
