A 12-year-old Kenyan boy wowed a young audience in Dubai, UAE with his presentation on technology.

Patrick Njoroge Wachira was named a science child prodigy at the 13th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) in Dubai, UAE.

He was one of the speakers at the children’s festival on Saturday, May 21, who shared their success stories in an effort to inspire their peers to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.

Patrick’s presentation about his initiative, the PNW Innovations Programme, which provides free STEM education to underprivileged Kenyan children, stunned the young audience.

“I want to empower every African child to be an innovator,” he stated.
The 12-year-old is working on a Mobile STEM Lab and Makerspace built on a bus equipped with robots and drones, learning kits, and electronic and mechanical workstations, which will travel throughout rural Kenya.

He is a robotics enthusiast, and he told conference attendees that his favorite SCRF attraction was the Robot Zoo.

Patrick stated that leaders from the UAE inspire him because of their efforts in developing the country and the technological advancements that the country has made thus far.

The 13th SCRF is taking place in Expo Centre Sharjah until May 22 with the theme ‘Create Creativity.’

Parents and children attending the 13th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) have lavished praise on the region’s largest event of its kind for upholding its legacy of being “more than just a literary festival.”

Patrick also tutors children and university students in Kenya as part of his PNW Innovation Programme, which provides free lessons.

He also takes pride in being an innovator who created a revolutionary tool for sensing sewerage blockages.

His project connects to a smartphone, allowing users to detect sewerage blockages and sludges in order to perform timely repairs.

So far, it has attracted industry heavyweights, and he has been invited to exhibit at Expo 2020 in Dubai.

“I created a prototype, which could be fine-tuned over the years. It also detects sludges, and toxic chemicals and sends an alarm to the control room. It helps the authorities to detect the sludges and blockages early enough and undertake preventive measures with less human effort.

“If I get a chance to implement it in the UAE, I will be happy to collaborate with any of the civic bodies in the Emirates, be it Dubai Municipality to implement this robotic solution,” he was quoted by a Dubai publication.
