The deceased, scheduled to take the KCPE this year, reportedly contacted his relatives about his plans but received no response.

The police who responded to the scene did not discover a suicide note. The deceased was sent to the mortuary at Longisa Referral Hospital.

This comes at a time when the Ministry of Health is drafting a National Suicide Prevention Strategy and Program (2021–2026) following World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations.

According to the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rashid Aman, the government is offering mental health and psychosocial support as a critical intervention in response to the current COVID-19 outbreak.
