Class 7 Pupil Commits Suicide in Tharaka Nithi County

According to reports, a 13-year-old pupil from Kangutu in Mariani Location, Tharaka Nithi, hanged himself, raising the number of suicides reported in the county over the past three days to four.

Meru South police commander Eunia Onyancha stated that the boy’s mother discovered his death at Sala Academy at about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. 

The incident was reported to police around 10:40 a.m.

She stated that the boy did not leave a suicide note and that a police investigation had started.

Ms. Onyancha stated that the body of the 13-year-old class 7 child was taken to the mortuary of the Chuka County Referral Hospital in preparation for an autopsy.

According to the police chief, the deceased’s parents disclosed that he had previously tried suicide for unknown reasons.

Ms. Onyancha asked parents to be “very” close to their children in order to comprehend the issues they face, since not all pupils are free to disclose their concerns.

She remarked that the high cost of living could be a contributing factor to the rise in suicide rates.

A police inspector assigned to the Chogoria Police Station reportedly hanged himself in his rented home on Tuesday.

Additionally, a police inspector was discovered deceased in Tharaka Nithi County.

Because he did not leave a suicide note, Tharaka Nithi County Authorities Commander Donatha Chali Kiplagat stated that police were unable to instantly determine what prompted the officer in charge of crime at the station to commit suicide.
