Sh52 Million Allocated For CBC Infrastructure In Naivasha
The government will spend Sh52.8 million to build 67 CBC classrooms in Naivasha Sub-County in order to prepare students for the transition from primary to junior secondary school.
Mutua Kisilu, Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner, stated that the exercise would be carried out in phases, with the first phase seeing the construction of classrooms in 37 of the 41 sub-county’s secondary schools.

He went on to say that the remaining four secondary schools would be included in the second phase once more funds were available.
Kisilu said during a multi-agency consultative meeting that the Ministry of Education would work with the Ministry of Interior and other key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Public Works and NEMA officials, to ensure that classes were in place before the junior secondary school intake.
He went on to say that the multi-agency team would collaborate closely with the boards of directors of the respective schools to ensure the program’s smooth implementation.
In an earlier meeting in Nakuru, Nakuru County Director of Education Fredrick Osewe stated that the government would spend Sh426.3 million to build 541 classrooms in the county’s 11 sub-counties ahead of the transition.
Osewe went on to say that the classrooms, which were expected to cost Sh788, 000 per class, would be built by local contractors operating near the schools, with funds remitted directly to them at the sub-county level.
The Director explained that the move was intended to empower locals and ensure that their skilled labour was utilized, as well as to boost economic growth at the grassroots level.
