One of the three men was armed with a firearm, while the other two held primitive weapons.

Oyaya told Wananchi Reporting that they forced his brother to stop walking and relinquish whatever he was carrying.

According to Mwalimu’s brother, the thugs demanded he hands up the money bag he was carrying.

The bag contained the daily earnings from his tiny business.

“My brother complied, and gave them the bag containing the money, and that’s when one of them shot him twice on the right leg,” said Oyaya.

“The three jumped onto a waiting motorbike and rode off in a huff, leaving my brother lying on the ground, wounded and in pain,” he added.

The teacher was taken to the Okita Nursing Home before being transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, where he is now being treated.

Job Kemey, the deputy county commissioner for Rachuonyo East, stated that his police are investigating the incident.
