School Capitation To Be Released On Monday – Magoha

Prof. George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, assured school heads across the country that the government will send funds to their institutions within the next week.

Prof. Magoha stated yesterday that the government was committed to keeping its word to school administrators, adding that most schools would begin receiving capitation funds from his Ministry by Monday.

He was speaking to the media after laying the foundation stone for the Second Phase of the Competency-Based Curriculum at Bishop Okoth Mbaga Girls’ High School in Siaya.

The Cabinet Secretary, who was accompanied by Siaya County Commissioner Jim Njoka, had previously visited Obambo and Siaya Township Mixed Secondary Schools, where he laid the groundwork for similar projects.

Prof. Magoha urged school principals to use money collected from parents as fees to fund school activities until the capitation funds were released.

“We are releasing capitation funds, at latest Monday when the money will hit the banks,” said Magoha.

The CS assured Kenyans that the government would complete the over 10,000 classrooms before the next General Elections.

He stated that his Ministry has already delivered 6,495 new classrooms as part of the First Phase of the CBC infrastructure development.

“In this Second Phase where we are targeting more than 3,500 classrooms, we are already at 10 percent,” he said, adding that he was confident that the remaining classrooms will be completed at least two days before the General Election day of August 9th, 2022.

Professor George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has urged school principals not to send students away because the government will provide capitation as soon as possible.

Roselyne Litaba, Kiambu Sub-County Director of Education, also emphasized this but urged parents who may be experiencing difficulties to share them with the students’ headmasters in order to devise a payment plan or clear their balances.
