Cabinet Secretary for Education George Magoha has warned principals not to let buses leave the school after 6.30 p.m.
During the handover of exam container keys and padlocks to county directors, Magoha stated that heads who defy this directive will face disciplinary action.
“I urge officials in the field to intercept school buses operating after 6 pm,” Magoha said.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i agreed with Magoha, saying that evening travel is dangerous for students.
“We will arrest the principal for violating school rules. School buses should not be out past 6.30,” Matiangi said.
The two cabinet secretaries were reacting to an attack on a Mogil Secondary School bus in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Thursday. In the attack, the driver was killed, and 13 students and two teachers were injured.
According to CS Matiang’i, the school principal will be arrested for violating school regulations.
