Several schools will represent Kenya in the East Africa Secondary School Games regional championship this week in Arusha, Tanzania.

Wiyeta Girls head coach Edgar Manyara is optimistic about winning his sixth East Africa Secondary School Games regional championship.

Wiyeta defeated Dagoretti Mixed 4-1 in post-match penalties following a scoreless draw in regulation time to win their 10th national championship in Nakuru.

This week, the team will compete for the regional championship, and he emphasized the importance of making roster adjustments to strengthen the squad.

According to the strategist, the Ministry informed the Kenyan representatives that the regional games will begin this week between Thursday and Friday.

“I expect to win my sixth regional title in Tanzania this weekend. I have to make few changes to my striking force which failed to utilize time and score during the normal time… I normally advise the players to win the match in normal time but we failed to use all the chances we had in normal time,” he emphasized.

Veron Okeyo, a scorching-hot forward at Kisumu Day secondary school, has expressed a desire to play for the Harambee Stars soon.

After leading his school to a third-place finish in the just-concluded national secondary school games, the senior stated that it would be an honor to represent Kenya whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Okeyo stated, “My big dream is to wear the national team jersey one day, and I know I am in the right direction.”

Large in stature, the center forward has simultaneously issued a “come-get-me” plea to Kenya Premier League clubs to realize his dream of playing in the top division and wearing the national team’s colors.

“So far no club has come for my services but to reach my target I need a team to play for in the premier league.”

Okeyo scored five goals in two games, including a hat trick against Olbolsat.

Kisumu Day, the tournament favorites, began the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Coastal side Serani, a match in which Okeyo scored a goal, before losing 2-0 to host Kabarnet, whom they then defeated in their third play-off match, a 1-1 draw in which Okeyo also scored their equalizer.
