School Bus Rolls Multiple Times in Narumoru-Nanyuki Grisly Road Accident
On Friday, March 31st, a tragic road accident occurred along the Narumoru-Nanyuki Highway involving a bus owned by Karega Secondary School.
The bus was on its way to a nearby town when it rolled multiple times on the highway, which connects Laikipia to Nanyuki town. Witnesses at the scene reported that the accident was gruesome.
Due to the severity of the accident, police officers from Nanyuki town had to rush to the scene to redirect traffic on both sides of the highway as the bus had blocked most parts of the road.
Emergency medical service providers were also called to the scene promptly to offer first aid to the victims of the crash. Some of the victims were quickly evacuated to nearby hospitals in Nanyuki for specialized treatment.
The authorities later advised motorists using the route to consider using the Mweiga road instead of taking the same highway after traffic started building up due to the accident.
This tragic incident happened only months after parents and teachers from Karega Secondary School celebrated the purchase of their new bus, which was launched on June 11th, 2022.
In another sad event, Pwani University suspended learning after 17 of its students were killed in a separate accident.
The incident happened after the bus they were travelling in crashed at the Kayole area in Naivasha on Thursday, March 30th. The students were on their way for a sports event in Eldoret.
The Vice Chancellor of Pwani University, Mohamed Rajab, informed the students that the university needed time to mourn the tragic loss of their colleagues. He suspended classes until Monday, April 3rd, 2023.
In a statement, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu mourned with Pwani University and prayed for peace, even as families grieved the loss of their loved ones. He also wished the students who were critically injured and transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment a quick recovery.
