Nyeri County Issues Sh4 Million Bursary To Needy Students.

Mutahi Kahiga, Governor of Nyeri, has disbursed Elimu Bursary Fund cheques totaling Sh. 4 million in an effort to ensure that children from low-income families do not miss school due to a lack of fees.

This is part of the Sh.160 million Elimu Fund Bursary, which was allocated in the fiscal year 2021/2022 to help students from low-income families continue their education across the 30 wards.

Alice Wambui, a parent whose daughter was among the recipients, thanked the governor for his ongoing support for the education sector.

Wambui stated that if it weren’t for the bursary, her daughter would be at home.

“I thank the county government for this as I am a single mother of two and jobless,” added Wambui.

Another parent, James Kamau, stated that the Nyeri County government has allowed many vulnerable students who could not afford to pay school fees to continue their education.

Kamau, a hawker in Nyeri town and the father of three school-aged children, said his children have all enrolled in school thanks to the Elimu Bursary Fund.
