Education Chief Administrative Secretary Sarah Ruto stated that the scholarships will help children gain access to quality education and stay in school as part of the universal education agenda.

“This scholarship will rekindle hope among the beneficiaries who would otherwise miss secondary education opportunities due to their disadvantaged backgrounds,” Ruto said.

She was speaking during the award ceremony.

The CAS challenged the scholars to use the award to secure the future they desired through education.

According to JKF Managing Director David Mwaniki, approximately 11,000 students have benefited from the scholarship program, which has cost more than 500 million shillings.

“The foundation is currently supporting 490 students in various secondary schools in Kenya,” he said.

Stella Samboja, the foundation’s Board chairperson, stated that the beneficiaries were chosen in a transparent manner to ensure that only deserving candidates received sponsorship.

Since its inception in 1968, the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, whose primary mission is publishing, has provided scholarships to needy but bright students.

Its assistance supplements the government’s scholarship to 9,000 needy but bright students who took the KCPE exam in 2021.
