Pupil’s Testicle Surgically Removed After Teacher’s Beating
Police are investigating an incident in which a Class Eight student at Bitundugusu Primary School was allegedly beaten by a teacher (s), resulting in swelling of his scrotum.
The boy was brought to Bosongo Hospital in Kisii County with a swollen scrotum, and after an examination, it was determined that he had testicular torsion, which occurs when a testicle rotates, twisting the spermatic cord that supplies blood to the scrotum.
In addition, the doctors determined that one of his testicles was irreparably damaged and had to be surgically removed.
“He was brought to us in a critical condition. We performed an emergency operation on him last Friday. He is still recovering, but is too weak to even walk,” a nurse at the hospital is quoted as saying.
What transpired?
The mother of the 15-year-old boy filed an assault report at the Manga Police Station on April 3, with police and education officials launching an investigation to determine the circumstances under which the teacher injured the boy.
On the day of the incident (Friday, March 24), the boy was initially transported to Getare Dispensary in Nyamira County before being transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH).
The surgeons at KTRH are the ones who referred the boy to the private hospital for the emergency surgery.
The operation, according to doctors, has not affected the boy’s biological ability to become a father in the future.
