However, the trainers have requested to be transferred back to the Teachers Service Commission, rather than the Public Service Commission.

In another development, the TSC is set to recruit four chief principals to serve in teachers’ training colleges, having invited applications from suitably qualified teachers.

The commission stipulated that applicants needed to have served as senior principals at T-Scale 14 for a minimum of three years and have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal and performance contracting process.

Additionally, they must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution and meet any other requirement deemed necessary by the Commission. The deadline for applications was January 31st.

Technical and vocational education training is a key area for the Kenyan government, which has been working to boost investment in these areas. By upskilling the country’s workforce, the government hopes to generate new economic opportunities, particularly in areas outside the major cities.

One of the key challenges for the sector has been the quality of training available, with many programmes not providing the necessary skills or knowledge to students. To address this, the government has been working to improve the quality of technical and vocational education and training across the country, with a particular focus on the rural areas.

It has also invested in improving the quality of teaching, providing resources and training for trainers and educators, and encouraging more students to enrol in technical and vocational courses.

As Kenya continues to develop and modernize its economy, the demand for skilled workers in areas such as construction, engineering, and IT is only likely to increase. By promoting and investing in technical and vocational education and training, the government hopes to ensure that Kenyan workers are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in these industries.

It is also hoped that this investment will help to drive innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly in areas that have traditionally been underserved by the education system.

With this latest round of promotions, it appears that the government is making a significant commitment to the development of technical and vocational education and training, and that it recognizes the vital role that these programmes will play in driving the country’s future economic growth.
