PSC Extends Applications Deadline For Principal Secretary Position; How To Apply
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has extended the application deadline for Principal Secretary jobs to Tuesday, September 27.
PSC is recruiting Kenyans for the Principal Secretary positions, for which President William Ruto will suggest their appointment and nomination.
Simon Rotich, chief executive officer of the commission, announced the seven-day extension on Tuesday, urging interested individuals to submit their applications within the extended time frame.
“The Public Service Commission has extended the deadline for submission of applications for the advertised positions of Principal Secretaries in the public service from today 20th September 2022 to Tuesday 27th September 2022,” a notice from the commission read in part.
“Interested applicants now have seven more days to apply for the positions that are expected to fall vacant following the General Elections held on 9th August 2022.”
According to the prior announcement, which was published in a gazette on September 7, PSC stated that the ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
(I) Be a Kenyan citizen
(ii) Possess a degree from a Kenya-recognized university
(iii) Possess at least ten years of relevant professional experience, of which five years must have been in a leadership role or at the highest management level in the public or private sector.
(iv) Having a general understanding of Government structure and functions
(v) Display knowledge of the nation’s aims, programs, and development objectives
(vi) Have demonstrated leadership and management skills, including financial management and strategic people management expertise.
(vii) Comply with the criteria of Chapter Six of the Constitution about leadership and honesty.
Once appointed to the position of P.S., the individual’s responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the Accounting Officer and Authorized Officer of the State Department.
- Implementing government policies and the Strategic Plan.
- Facilitating the achievement of the goals and objectives of Government and Inter-Governmental programmes and projects.
In addition, they will develop and implement an effective performance management system, ensure the efficient and effective use of financial, human, and other resources; submit regular statutory reports, and promote the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya in the State Department’s operations.
The Pay and Remuneration Commission (SRC) will establish the salaries and perks of eligible P.S.s, and the PSC may grant them a leave of absence.
The application must be supported by a full curriculum vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certifications and transcripts, a national identity card or passport, letters of recommendation, and any other pertinent supporting documents. These documents must accompany an online application as scanned images.
2. Each application must be clearly labeled “Application for the position of Chief Secretary” and submitted in ONE of the following ways:
(a) Applications must be handed in by hand to the Office of the Secretary/CEO, located on the fourth floor of Commission House, off Harambee Avenue.
(b) Online applications must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org in PDF format.
(c) Applications submitted by mail should be addressed to the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, Commission House, P.O. Box 30095-00100, Nairobi.
