PSC Announces 1,300 TVET Trainers Jobs For Diplomas & Degrees Holders; How to Apply

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced that it is accepting applications for 1,300 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainers across the country.

The announcement follows President William Ruto’s declaration on March 23rd that the government will be hiring more tutors to address shortages in some government institutions.

In addition, Ruto stated that they will be converting TVET institutions into digital academic organisations and distributing computers in 100 TVETs.

Interested candidates must hold a degree, higher diploma, or diploma from a recognised institution. The PSC has listed 588 degree holders, 398 holders of higher diplomas, and 314 trainers with a diploma as the required number of trainers.

All interested and qualified persons must submit their applications directly to the institutions where vacancies exist by filing one PSC (Revised 2016) application form. Applicants were urged to attach copies of their National ID card, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, and any other testimonials.

The application form may be downloaded from the commission website, www.publicservice.go.ke, and the deadline for submissions is April 17, 2023, at the latest by 5 pm. Successful candidates will be required to apply for licensing and registration by the TVET Authority.

TVET institutions that are part of the 220 listed across the country include Kabete National Polytechnic, Lang’ata Technical and Vocational College, Kenya School of TVET, and Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on March 3 urged the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions to restructure TVET training to competence-based skilling.

He also disclosed that the government is intentional in expanding the TVET sub-sector to create job opportunities and meet the increasing demand for skilled labour.

The hiring of more TVET trainers is a positive move by the government in creating more job opportunities and meeting the increasing demand for skilled labour.

By expanding the TVET sub-sector, the government is ensuring that more people are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the modern workforce.

It is essential that the TVET training is restructured to a competence-based skilling approach to ensure that graduates are adequately equipped to enter the workforce.
