PSC Announces 1,000 Paid Internships; How to Apply.

In its program aimed at recent graduates, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 1,000 paid internships in the Information Technology department.

The interns will be trained and deployed to various schools across the country as part of the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP).

“The Ministry of Education has declared 1,000 vacancies for internship under the DLP,” PSC announced.

DLP was founded in 2016 by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee administration on the belief that technology has the potential to bring about systemic change in basic and higher education by transforming teaching and learning through curriculum integration.

The program has stringent requirements, with the Commission stating that applicants must have graduated no earlier than 2018 and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education will be considered as well.

Candidates should also be familiar with networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management.

This will be combined with the ability to incorporate ICT into their daily tasks, such as e-Learning and content development.

Interns will be responsible for providing first-line support and maintenance of ICT services in schools, implementing innovations to help schools improve their use of digital learning, and assisting with the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme.

Other responsibilities include e-Learning support and content development in accordance with the schemes of work, providing class support and training of Primary School Teachers in the use of digital literacy devices, assisting teachers in integrating ICT in the delivery of teaching, learning, and assessment, and providing support in the safe, secure, and ethical use of technology in learning.

How To Apply

The internship program will last one year and will include a stipend determined by PSC.
