Kajiado County Commissioner Introduces CBC Classes

Kajiado County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha launched three Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) classes in Loitoktok Sub County on Tuesday.

The three classes at Olchorro, Ilkisonko, and Kimana Mixed Secondary Schools are Kajiado County’s first CBC classes.

While commissioning the classes, Nkanatha stated that the three classes are among the eight recently completed classes out of the 19 classes currently under construction in the Sub County’s first phase.

He went on to say that the commissioning of more classes would continue, but that due to the vastness of the county, more time would be required.

Nkanatha praised the Loitoktok Sub County CBC Implementation Committee for setting an example for other sub-counties in the ongoing program.

The County Commissioner also praised the hardworking contractors who delivered the classes on time.

He stated that once classes are completed, the schools will receive junior secondary students who are currently in grade five in 2023.

The County Commissioner praised the National Government for the program, saying that the government is ready and willing to assist schools in implementing the new curriculum, and he urged other players in the sector to do their part to ensure the CBC’s success.

Concerning exams, the County Commissioner stated that security personnel have been briefed on manning the exams and that they are ready to deliver credible exams.

He asked security officers in charge of exams to be alert during exam time and focus entirely on the manning of the exams.

Dr Salome Maina, Kajiado County Director of Education, urged the Sub County CBC implementation Committee to press contractors who are falling behind to finish the classes on time, as the schools will be no-go zones in two weeks after being converted to exam centres.

Dr Maina also mentioned that completing the CBC classes on time will expedite payment processing for the contractors.
