The chairman of the Nation Media Group, Wilfred Kiboro, has urged parents and donors to support the government in building classrooms and other infrastructure to ensure the successful implementation of the competency-based curriculum (CBC).

He noted that many schools were struggling with insufficient infrastructure, and that parents had a role to play in ensuring that junior secondary school students had a suitable learning environment.

Dr. Kiboro praised the CBC as a game-changer in the country’s economy, as it would equip job seekers with the necessary skills to succeed in the job market.

He spoke at a fundraiser in aid of the rehabilitation of primary school classrooms at the Holy Family Catholic parish in Mukothima, Tharaka Nithi County.

He stressed the need to ensure the success of the CBC, saying that building classrooms and school facilities was the responsibility of all, as infrastructure was provided for previous generations.

Dr. Kiboro also emphasized the need to equip and support teachers to ensure the success of the curriculum. He stressed the importance of education, noting that students were the foundation of the nation and needed to learn in an enabling environment.

He added that the corporate world often interviewed people who had left university but lacked the necessary skills to gain employment.

During the fundraiser, Dr. Kiboro donated over Sh1.1 million towards the rehabilitation of the church’s primary school classrooms. He was accompanied by his sister Anne Waudo and nieces Florence Busiega and Betty Gacheru.

Additionally, the family agreed to help build a church at Makutano market, which had been stalled for six years due to challenges caused by the prevailing famine situation.

Father Eliud Mwenda, the Holy Family Parish priest, expressed his gratitude to the Ng’ang’a family and announced that the church would be named after their mother, Martha.

He said the construction of the church would be a great help to the local Christian community, who had been struggling to raise funds due to the famine situation.

In summary, Dr. Kiboro’s speech highlighted the importance of supporting the CBC by providing suitable infrastructure and ensuring that teachers are equipped to implement the curriculum successfully.

He also emphasized the responsibility of parents and donors to contribute towards the construction of classrooms and other school facilities.

Finally, he demonstrated his commitment to these goals by making a significant donation towards the rehabilitation of the church’s primary school classrooms and agreeing to help build a church at Makutano market.
