Parents Rally Against Principal Transfer, Storm and Eject Students From Iloodariak Boys School

Parents of Iloodariak Boys Secondary School in Kajiado West subcounty took drastic measures on Tuesday by forcefully ejecting their children from school.

Their protest was triggered by the transfer of the school’s principal, Solomon Kisemei, to another school in Ngaroch.

Parents of expressed their discontent with the board of management, accusing them of orchestrating the transfer of Principal Solomon Kisemei without proper consultation.

Mary Senteu, one of the parents, stated that they stormed the school to remove their children due to their lack of confidence in both the board of management and the incoming principal.

The parents insisted that they would only allow their children to return to the school if the former principal was reinstated.

Denial from the School Board

Contrary to the parents’ allegations, John Kintalel, a member of the school board, refuted claims of instigating the principal’s transfer.

He revealed that the principal had requested the transfer two months prior without notifying the board.

The board only learned of the transfer on Monday, just a day before the parents’ protest.

Kintalel also expressed surprise at Kisemei’s involvement in the demonstration, as he was supposed to be handing over to the incoming principal.

Conflicting Accounts

While the parents believed that Kisemei incited them to protest, the former principal clarified that he had visited the school to collect his personal belongings ahead of the scheduled handover on Wednesday.

Kisemei claimed that he was unaware of the reason behind the parents’ demonstration until later.

When contacted for comment, Dr. Martin Maritim, the county director of education, emphasized that teacher and principal transfers are routine procedures.

He assured that educators are professionals who follow a structured curriculum.

Although he did not specifically address the situation at Iloodariak Boys Secondary School, his response implied that the transfer of Principal Kisemei was a normal occurrence.
