“We did come up with a mechanism that accountability was transferred to the personal level,” Machogu said.

“We said the centre manager will be personally accountable for any irregularities. We designed a form for security personnel to sign how things went.”

In 2022, around 841,416 candidates from various regions of the country took the KCSE exams between December 2 and December 23.

Machogu lamented that a strike at St. Francis Mang’u Girls School almost halted the marking process. However, he promised to improve their pay and address their complaints.

“I have in mind of a hiccup that was recorded at one of the centers were a few examination officers threatened to derail the exercise,” Machogu stated.

“KNEC was however able to respond that ensuring a seamless progression of the exercise. At this point, I want to assure that they did a commendable job,” Machogu stated.

The marking procedure began on December 28. In 35 centers, 30 000 examiners were contracted for the marking process.
