Tough-Talking Magoha Embarrasses Journalist Over Remarks On KCSE Exam Irregularity




Education CS Professor George Magoha, on Tuesday, April 6, badly embarrassed a news reporter over comments that the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

The journalist asked CS Magoha to comment on the rising cases of KCSE examination irregularities. The fuming CS did not take the question too lightly and questioned if the journalist had a good understanding of the English language.




“What do you mean, notorious? This fellow doesn’t understand English. There is nothing that has happened,” Magoha said.




He explained that he is the one who had opened the examination container at that examination center. He went further and asked the journalist to tell him if he had seen any signs of safety breach.

Magoha asked the journalist to carry more research before making ignorant reports could create anxiety among candidates, parents, and education stakeholders.




“Can you go back to your research? You will find that this is a very good year. Do you get the point?” he asked adding that less than 20 culprits have been arrested so far, and that could not completely be referred to as multiple irregularities.

Last week, 18 people were arrested for selling fake examination papers to unsuspecting candidates and parents. 8 KCSE candidates were also found with mobile phones inside the examination rooms.




On Tuesday, April 6, a school principal in Machakos County was arrested for allegedly sharing a KCSE mathematics paper on her Whatsapp status.
