The Ministry of Education has announced its plan to slash the school fees across the country.
In a report shared by the Ministry of Education, this decision arrived as a result of the reduction in the number of weeks in the new academic year.
According to the new school calendar, the number of academic weeks reduced from 39 to 30 weeks in a year. However, the Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof.Â
Magoha said that the school fees will be reduced significantly lower due to the country’s economic downturns. Most employed Kenyans were dismissed from work following the surge in Covid 19.
Therefore parents will be paying school fees as follows.
1. National Schools
Location: Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Thika, Nyeri and Eldoret.
Fees amount: Shs 45000
2. County and sub-county schools
Fees amount: Shs 35000
3. Special schools
Fees amount: Ksh 10860 yearly
