KNEC to replace KCPE with KPEA Under CBC- The new 2-6-3-3-3 curriculum will replace the 32-year-old 8-4-4 curriculum. – Since switching from the 7-4-2-3 system in 1985, this will be the country’s second time adopting a new curriculum. – The Competence-Based Curriculum will be used to administer the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education.Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced that Kenya Primary Education Assessment (KPEA) will replace the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).KPEA takes over from KCPE The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, according to KNEC, will be administered using the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).According to KNEC chair John Onsati, this will happen when the final batch of Standard Eight students take their exams near the end of the year ( 2022).He also stated that the academic calendar will return to normalcy after this year.“We want to inform the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) that KNEC will administer the Kenya Primary Education Assessment Grade 6 summative assessment at the end of the year," During the release of the KCSE 2021 results on Saturday, April 23, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha also stated that students taking national exams in November and December for Grade 6, Class 8, and Form 4 must register between April 27 and May 14."The ministry has already set the examinations. I direct KNEC to register candidates for the exams,” Magoha said.
